With 8000 sq feet, two cheer floors and just 65 Allstar cheerleaders, Midwest Cheer Elite opened it’s doors for the first time in February 2003.
New to the allstar circuit, it was only a matter of months before they became noticed in the industry. Owner, Tanya Roesel, and a staff of five, led their teams to several state and national titles within that first season.
In the spring of 2004, Midwest Cheer Elite held their first “official” tryout, taking on more than 150 cheerleaders and dancers. Adding Senior and Youth Hip Hop to the family, Midwest began to broaden it’s horizons into the dance scene. With the increase in both students and teams, Midwest Cheer Elite relocated in August 2004 into a
16,500 sq ft facility, featuring 3 full nine panel floors, a rod floor, parent viewing area, pro-shop and offices. It became the largest Allstar cheerleading and dance facility in the area. That fall, they were featured in “Inside Cheerleading” magazine where the quote was “from studying powerhouse gyms to emerging as one…” That year the Senior Coed team went undefeated while the Senior Hip Hop team became one of the most talked about, winning several national titles for not only their talent, but for their original style.
Spring of 2005 brought over 200 athletes into the program as well as additional staff, bringing the number of coaches and instructors to 12. With the addition of new choreographers and a new uniform, Midwest Cheer Elite went on to win numerous national titles as well as a World’s Bid for the Senior Coed team. The gym as a whole won the “Top Program” award at American Championships in Indy as well as a $6000 to go toward additional equipment for the facility. Owner, Tanya Roesel, began judging that season for many national cheer and dance circuits.
2006 brought the largest tryout yet, with over 250 athletes joining the family and the motto being “Where Champions are Made.” We saw the addition of a Peewee and Senior Pom team, as well as a “Kittens” cheer team for preschoolers and the “Firecats”, a cheer team for those with special needs. With just 5 teams in 2003, Midwest Cheer Elite has expanded to over 14 teams in the spring of 2006. The facility saw the addition of the “Marly Dance Floor” as well as an additional spring floor. Additional dance coaches were brought on board to accommodate the growing dance program. With the continued growth in the programs, Midwest Cheer Elite has now begun designing their new state of the art facility, to be built behind their current location. The new facility, with over 30,000 sq ft, will host 4 cheer floors, a Marly dance floor, an inground tumble trak, inground trampoline and inground foam pit. There will be a new pro-shop, parent viewing area, locker bay as well as an “internet café” and study area for our athletes.
In April 2007, Midwest Cheer Elite took it's first team to compete in the prestigious USASF World's Competition. "Jags", Large Level 5 All-Girl Team achieved a 14th place finish out of 28 finalist teams. The goal for their first year was to make finals, and they did!! Next year, their shooting for a paid-bid and a top 10 finish!
Many more surprises are in store as well!! With a new choreographer as well as new teams to our facility, Midwest Cheer Elite can promise only one thing, excitement and the best in Allstar Cheerleading and Dance!
